Seville Buildings Series
2021
Ink and watercolor on Bristol Board.

In Seville, I found inspiration in the contrast between old and new, magnificient and decrepit, glorious and mundane. I gravitated towards scenes and buildings where you could see Seville's palimpsest nature, where the history of the city (whether roman, arabic, renaissance or 20th century) and its unique visual style collided with its present through graffiti, wires, etc.

A watercolor and ink drawing of the facade of a building in an old city, Sevilla, Spain. The building is yellow and green and has balconies. The street is cobblestoned. The sign of a bar or pub reads "Los Claveles" and there are advertisements for wines in Spanish. Grafitti covers the doors of the bar or pub.
